My name is Naomi Kenga.
I am the founder and lead dance instructor of Rhythm Dance Nation (I have inserted a photo of me and my bushy brows so you can match the name to the face 😅).
Dance has been a central part of my life from a very young age, I formally studied dance and hold a qualification in the subject, with training across a wide range of styles including commercial and contemporary dance.
As life evolved, particularly after getting married and becoming a mother my engagement with dance naturally shifted. Although I continued attending classes where possible, I began to feel the absence that dance had always filled.
In 2022, I was given the opportunity to lead dance fitness sessions for community groups I am part of, as well as Congolese Ndombolo workshops. The response to these sessions was overwhelmingly positive.
What stood out most was the level of enjoyment participants experienced, despite many being unfamiliar with Ndombolo as a style.
This feedback highlighted a clear opportunity to increase exposure to Congolese dance while creating accessible, fun, and dynamic sessions that blend the styles I love.
Rhythm Dance Nation was created from this vision. The sessions are designed to alternate between dance fitness and choreography-focused classes, both strongly influenced by Congolese Ndombolo, alongside elements of afrobeats, hip‑hop, and commercial dance.
This format allows participants to build fitness, confidence, musicality, and technique, while fully embracing the joy and expressiveness of Afro‑urban movement.
These classes are open to all abilities, whether you are seeking a challenge, want to learn something new, improve your fitness, or simply enjoy moving to music in a welcoming environment.
Above all, the sessions are designed to be energetic, inclusive, and fun.
Everyone should arrive ready to move and in true Congolese fashion, expect to work your waist.
I look forward to welcoming you to Rhythm Dance Nation.
